M6 Unity and Adventure Trip
On Feb 1st and 2nd 2018 the M6 class set off on their final field trip with PHS to Ko Si Chang Island, Sri Rachada. The trip was designed to prepare the students for life outside of school. They would complete new tasks, and begin to be aware of and assess their personal qualities, skills, achievements and personal potential so that they can set new goals which would enhance their employability, team working and leadership skills and enable them to develop flexibility and resilience.
Through a series of outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, kayaking and climbing the class can develop new skills and a sense of unity as a group within the school. They can motivate each other, develop trust, learn new skills and cooperate to complete their tasks.
The trip included a race, of sorts, set over two days which would test their teamwork, endurance, and offer them new skills and abilities.
The Land Leg
Setting off on foot the team must find a location to pick up their bikes. Then cycling over 25 km through and around the hills of Sattahip before finding their way back to base. Throughout they must complete team tasks.
The Sea Leg
Beginning by making their way by dinghy to the yacht, the team had to learn how to sail and plot a course to a location at sea. After completing team tasks at sea and on islands they had to sail back to the base.
This was a fantastic trip and enabled the students to complete new personal achievements. For many it was exhausting hard work and tested their ability and dedication – yet all achieved completion. The teamwork and motivation and support within the groups proved that PHS students have incredible camaraderie. The evening was reflective and enabled the students from M6 to complete their bonding before they head off in new directions in their lives.
