World Robotics Olympiad

The World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) is one of the biggest robotics competitions in the world. More than 60 countries compete in this competition. The final round of the Thai leg of the competition was in Khon Kaen this year, to which PHS sent two teams.

The top three teams in each category go through to the international final round, which will be held in Chiang Mai this year. The PHS students did not qualify for Chiang Mai, but they had a great time and gained invaluable experience for next year’s competition.

Both teams were in the under 15 age group and competed in the “regular” category of the competition. This category involved first scanning blocks for different colours, which in turn gives information about the colour blocks to collect and where to put them.

The students learned a lot, and we are looking forward to further expand and develop the growing robotics club at PHS. The next competition PHS will be joining is the First Lego League (FLL), which will be early 2019.
